There are different options with different rates for horseback riding in the Turrialba area. Short tour rates vary from USD 20 to USD 30 per person per hour. All horse back tours will lead through a varied landscape and will have panoramic sceneries. Three of the main routes are: The surroundings of the Turrialba Volcano; the surroundings of the Guayabo National Monument with waterfall over the Guayabo River; and the more tropical and hilly coffee and sugarcane area of Atirro.

Of these options the one to the Guayabo waterfall is a full day tour (lunch included), with a total horse back ride of more than three hours and a hike of 20 min. to the waterfall and 20 min. back (this is the hardest part of the hike) where you will enjoy a rural picknic for lunch. This last tour is tough and only fit for those in a good physical condition.
